Use Your Own Cells To Heal Your Body

Regenerative medicine gives hope to patients with damaged tissues. This process involves the use of cells and acellular products, which are used to aid tissue healing that have been lost due to age, disease or damage.

This groundbreaking area of medicine does not require extensive and time-consuming surgeries. Three Aspens Regenerative Medicine simply extracts cells from a patient, which are then re-injected. These cells can be put into specific areas, such as joints.

What Is Regenerative Medicine (Cell Therapy)?

Regenerative Medicine is the use of a combination of cells, growth factors, cytokines, proteins and other acellular products, and material methods, and suitable biochemical and chemical factors to improve or replace biological functions. Key functions include repairing or replacing tissues (e.g., bone, cartilage, blood vessels and skin).

How Does It Work?

Regenerative Medicine is the advanced application of cells and biological products instead of donor organs, the latter being harder to acquire and in limited supply. The cells are harvested and implanted into a person to repair defective tissue.

Am I A Good Candidate For Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative Medicine in the future has the potential to regenerate cartilage, repair tendons and ligaments, repair bone defects and provide immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive effects on the immune system.

The best candidates for regenerative therapies include patients who are suffering with joint pains and wound related diseases.

What Should Patients Expect After Regenerative Medicine Therapy?

The observable regeneration of the joint tissue and cartilage is usually experienced over time. Most of our patients report feeling more comfortable and experiencing a great reduction in pain while at the same time, improving their bodily movement. Typically within 3-5 days after the procedure, our patients can return to work and resume their normal daily activities.

However, we always advise our patients to avoid stressful activities or strenuous exercises for at least six weeks. Returning to stressful activity before the end of six weeks may result in the delay or incomplete healing of the treated tissue.

Is Regenerative Medicine Safe?

Yes. Regenerative Medicine and PRP Therapy is backed by numerous research studies and has been used for more than a decade in surgical and orthopedic procedures. In fact, by using a patient’s own stem cells, there is decreased risk of transmissible infections, side effects, or allergic reactions.

How Many Treatments Are Required?

We assess the unique needs of each individual patient and prescribe a customized treatment plan upon the first visit. Depending on your needs, this can either be a mix of PRP Therapy, Extracellular Matrix and other Cell Treatments, which all work together to begin the regenerative process.

Some patients need only one treatment but a follow-up of a pure PRP injection may be recommended. A pure PRP injection acts as a “booster shot” to stimulate continual stem cell activation and to improve the regenerative properties of your treatment plan.

Our Services

PRP Therapy

Utilizing the body’s natural healing process, PRP therapy is a concentration of platelets that are injected into the damaged ligaments, tendons, and joints to promote tissue repair and accelerate healing. PRP therapy may be performed alone or in conjunction with other therapies as the latest interventions to help promote pain relief and strengthening of your bodies natural tissues.

Three Aspens Regenerative Medicine

A2M Injection Therapy

Alpha 2 macroglobulin, or A2M injection therapy, uses proven scientific techniques and natural healing methods to successfully treat osteoarthritis at its source. It is used to prevent cartilage breakdown in patients, promote tissue growth and support the overall restoration of an affected joint. The procedure is a simple blood draw, where we process your own cell components to be injected in the same day to the affected joint. No sedation or down time!

Three Aspens Regenerative Medicine

Cell Therapy

Cell therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, promotes the repair response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells. Three Aspens Regenerative Medicine uses only autologous (your own) cells and not derivatives or components to aide in your bodies natural healing. In our one day outpatient procedure, we are able to extract cells and readminister them in our office to be injected on the same day. Our minimally-invasive procedure does not require sedation and dramatically decreases down time compared to most surgical interventions.

Hormone Therapy

Hormone Therapy involves the use of natural hormones to address the symptoms of menopause or andropause. The risks, benefits and alternatives are discussed in using this therapy along with the contraindications. Many patients acquire a sense of improved overall well being using hormonal therapies.

BHRT stands for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). What does that mean? Bioidentical refers to how molecularly similar the supplemental hormone is to the human hormone. Other supplemental hormones, such as the ones administered by conventional physicians, are not bioidentical. BioTE Medical exclusively uses bioidentical hormones derived from plants to avoid the negative side effects associated with synthetic hormones. People who lack certain hormones or who have too much of a certain hormone may benefit from BHRT.

SkinPen by Bellus Medical is the first microneedling device cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, clinically proven to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars for ages 22 and up.

SkinPen creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. The result: effective remodeling of scar tissue while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.

Three Aspens — The Premier Center for Functional Medicine

A Brief Definition of Regenerative Medicine

The definition of regenerative medicine is a medicine that aims to replace damaged tissues or organs by injecting stem cells into the targeted area rather than treating symptoms.

One branch of regenerative medicine in Highlands Ranch is cellular therapy. Stem cells in your body are continually repairing the body, but scientists have found that directly injecting stem cells into the damaged organ and tissue, the body can repair and regenerate tissue and potentially eliminate the need for persistent disease or pain medication. Scientists are also hopeful that tissue engineering and regenerative medicine will eliminate the need for organ transplants in the future. Stem cells can be collected from your skeletal muscle, bone marrow, dental pulp, blood, and fat. Skeletal muscle, bone marrow, and dental pulp are more painful, but often, blood and fat provide adequate stem cells for various applications for organs and tissue.

Applications in Highlands Ranch Regenerative Medicine

Though stem cell research is relatively new, scientific reports and studies show that current therapies are highly effective, have few side effects, and are incredibly safe. This is especially true when compared to invasive surgeries like tissue and organ transplants and knee replacements.

The most common regenerative medicine application that we see at Three Aspens is cartilage repair and wound healing. Many of our patients find that cell-based therapies allow them to restore normal joints’ normal functions and minimize or eliminate pain after treatment. If you or a loved one are curious about regenerative medicine therapy, give our office a call to schedule an appointment and learn more.

Functional Medicine Model

At Three Aspens in Highlands Ranch, we are dedicated to the functional medicine model, which means we approach medicine and healing with a holistic, individualized, patient-centered approach. Our job is to find the root cause of complex chronic diseases and pain with our patients.

We take time to understand the underlying cause without the addition of unneeded conventional medicine. We view the relationship between patients and practitioners as a partnership. We value trust and communication as we work together to address the underlying health issues and complications. Our functional medicine practitioners work with our patients to reduce or eliminate chronic pain and chronic illness with treatments that address the underlying causes. We can also discuss the pros and cons of conventional medicine vs. alternative medicine and what is best for that individual.

Functional Medicine Approach

We try to achieve this is a holistic approach known as creating a functional medicine timeline. A functional medicine timeline requires outlining patient history to get a better sense of illness and pain. This is one of our ways to provide personalized medicine for each patient.
Many doctors practicing medicine in the Highlands Ranch area are trained to treat symptoms, not understand their patients’ health and illness timeline. Functional medicine addresses why, whereas integrative medicine only addresses how. By tracing a patient’s health throughout their life, we can start to unpack the why behind the underlying causes of disease and pain. Once we have a clear understanding of the patient’s timeline, we can begin to discuss things like diet and lifestyle and how to assist with their health and vitality. We look at lifestyle factors that may be contributing, family history, genetic makeup, and other parts of the puzzle that can help us uncover the causes of disease or pain so that we can address the root causes.

Our Integrative Approach

Duke Integrative Medicine defines integrative health as “an approach to care that seeks to integrate the best of Western scientific medicine with a broader understanding of the nature of the illness, healing, and wellness.” We see integrative health as a healing process that is a shared partnership between healthcare professionals and patients.

We want to aid you in healthy living without pain and disease. That’s our vision of patient care.

Together we will go over your health information, history of illness and discuss your mind-body connection to better emotional and physical well-being. You and your Three Aspens healthcare professional will discuss the best health approach and care plan after understanding your history and all contributing factors. Integrative health care plans might include complementary medicine like dietary supplements, yoga, massage therapy, conventional and alternative medicines, complementary therapy, and developing healthy behaviors in mind and body. Our patient’s care plans are ultimately about healthy living inside and out.

We believe our integrative approach, our holistic approach, is a vital way to deal with chronic pain and health issues because we focus on healing rather than disease and illness. We strive to balance our patients’ lives in body, mind, and spirit through complementary and integrative health. Our patients greatly benefit from personalized, complementary medicine.
